BIO
Catherine is a Belfast-born film composer, music producer, singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based between London and Northern Ireland. Her debut in composition was during her teens, when she was chosen to contribute to the writing and arrangement of the new extended BBC Blue Peter theme tune, working alongside Ben Foster and Murray Gold and performing at the BBC Proms. She then went on to be named one of the ‘Top Ten Young Composers in the U.K.’ at the Make It Break It Awards judged by Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Live Aid’s Harvey Goldsmith.
She studied her BMus on the well-known Popular Music course at Goldsmiths University of London (alumni inc. James Blake, Katy B, Ross From Friends), discovering a love of creating fusions of Classical and Folk music merged with Electronica, Pop and R&B genres and this is where she experimented in merging the normally-disparate areas of media composition and performance, intertwining them in her compositional style. It was here that she also began her solo electro-pop project FILLE, working with NX Records and Sofar Sounds and is currently writing her first album alongside a new electro/house project TBA.
For her Masters in Composition For Screen she was awarded the John Barry Scholarship to study at the Royal College of Music London and worked with filmmakers from the London Film School & Royal College of Art alongside independent filmmakers & brands. Since graduating, she has been scoring for film & TV with releases due in 2025, as well as two recent project awards: The Arts Council NI SIAP Award for electronic music development and was also recently selected for the Creative Access Thrive Programme
in partnership with Grammy-winning composer Lorne Balfe
from March 2024 - March 2025.
